Welcome to Simply NHN, a division of Natural Horse Network
A small Colorado/Idaho company created by two horsewomen to bring you simple blends of herbs for horses, naturally.

2400 years ago Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine stated “Let food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food”. Does that seem profound? Indeed it is. Even in the bible it is stated by Isaiah “prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil, and he will recover.” (The Living Bible, Isaiah 38:21) The use of herbal medication reaches back to ancient times in our history.

Our horses know the benefit of herbs, as do most animals that forage in the wild. If you watch closely, you will find that not only do they understand what is beneficial, but will naturally keep away from those herbs that their body doesn’t need.

Expanding upon this, they seem to know what they do need as well. This day in age, our horses are not foragers any longer, we’ve confined them and feed them a blend of forage that WE think they need. Are they really and truly getting what they need? While all is good when we compare the proper rations and fat content, balance it all out with sugar intake and exercise, we are forgetting that one thing that horses really need; naturally growing herbal plant products that help promote proper digestion and essentially keep the horse healthy and happy in its artificial environment.

So you want to go more natural. That is wonderful, but look before you just grab that “herbal” product off the shelf. Is it really going to do what it says it’s going to do? Herbs are a complex blend and like our synthetic drugs, can counteract each other. You wouldn’t take a stimulant and mix it with the properties of a depressant, but I see that a lot when it comes to complex herbal formulas. What truly works, are simply designed formulas without a lot of “other” ingredients. When I buy a product, probably like you, I want to know that it’s going to work in the manner that it is intended to, but yet, most people do not understand herbal medications. The more you mix together, the more you increase the odds of it not working in the manner it is marketed to. When buying for pain relief, I want pain relief, not something that will also “supposedly” work on moods, or digestion, or any other ailment… I want it to work in the way I bought it for. Reflecting on human medicine to prove this point, lets say you have a headache…. Would you prefer to take a pain reliever that is strictly for pain, or would you buy a multi symptom that is for pain, runny noses, sore throat and coughing. This is the same with herbal remedies, which most of our synthetic drugs are derived from.

We here at Simply NHN have designed herbal blends that will work in the manner that they are intended. Pain for pain, digestion for digestion…. Etc. etc. You will not find a complex blend of ingredients, nor will you find anything that is chemically or synthetically based. Our ingredients are designed to work together and complement each other for the purpose it was designed. You will find a top notch, quality product that’s been thoroughly researched and one that we feel comfortably giving to our own animals. We are dedicated to helping you help your own horses. Give us a try, you wont be disappointed.

Natural herbs have helped many horses but with any new product, you should monitor your horse. If your horse is sick, injured, on any medication, or you have any concerns, you can check with your vet prior to feeding the herbs.
